An island in all but name — a golf cart runs you out over the water to a sandbar bar inside Sawary Resort, where the cocktails are genuinely good and the Mediterranean starts about a metre from the sunbeds. It fills at dusk rather than noon: the Martin Audio rig gets a proper workout midweek, the crowd is 500-strong at capacity, and the thing runs to three in the morning without ever quite losing the beach.

Bar service and an international menu set the tone here — cocktails and easy plates that don't demand you leave the daybed, priced in the mid range rather than at resort mark-up. Doors open at 7 PM every night of the week through the June to September season, and the room runs to 3 AM, which makes the arithmetic obvious: you arrive for the last of the light and stay well past it. Lounge and chill house carry the early hours before the energy tips towards dancing, and Fridays and Saturdays draw the fullest crowd, heavy on visitors and skewing to the twenties-to-thirties bracket. Beach chic is the standard, meaning you can come more or less as you spent the afternoon, though the evening slot rewards a little effort. Drinking age is 18.
