About Monarch
Tech house and deep house carry most of the night here, sliding into techno and trance as the hour gets late, and in a room this size the sound sits close — loud enough to move a packed floor without swallowing the table next to you. The vintage, art-deco feel keeps things intimate rather than cavernous, and bottle service in the VIP booths is available without the price tag you'd expect for it; the $$ band means a night out at 101 6th St stays reasonable by SoMa standards. Mexican plates round out the drinks list. Doors open at 9pm Wednesday through Sunday, with Friday and Saturday running to 2:30am and drawing the busiest crowd — largely couples and locals in the 25-45 range, with a fair share of visiting Europeans and Americans. Smart casual is the expectation, and 21 is the door minimum.
