About The Roof Top at Kempinski
Ahmed Ragheb sits in Qasr El Nil, downtown Cairo's hotel quarter, which means you arrive by valet, ride up through the Kempinski and step out into something much quieter than the traffic below. The pool and day beds do most of the work here: shisha, table service and Middle Eastern plates, ordered slowly across an afternoon that stretches from nine in the morning to two the next. Music stays in the background — deep house, lounge-leaning chill house, familiar hits later — rather than pushing the room anywhere. The season runs October to April, when Cairo's weather makes an open roof worth the climb, and Friday through Sunday brings the fullest terrace, mostly couples and hotel guests from around the region and Western Europe. Beachwear is fine by the water, the crowd skews 25 to 45, drinking starts at 21, and the $$ band keeps a long stay reasonable.
