Techno and trance hold one end of the building while reggae and hip hop fill another, and the American-leaning kitchen exists mainly to keep people upright between sets. Thursday through Saturday is when District VII fills up properly — a mix of Budapest locals, backpackers passing through and visitors from either side of Europe, mostly in the 25-45 bracket, with 18 the line for drinking. Prices sit in the moderate band, so bottle service and a VIP booth are within reach of an ordinary night rather than a special occasion. Smart casual covers it; the crowd leans bohemian and nobody is dressing up. A 4.3 rating across nearly 17,000 reviews says the formula works.
