About Golden Cut
Holzdamm runs through St. Georg just east of the main station, which means arriving on foot from most of central Hamburg is easy and leaving at 6am on a Sunday morning is easier still. That closing hour is the point: doors open around 11pm on Friday and Saturday, but the long stretch runs from midnight through dawn on Saturday and Sunday nights, with Sunday the busiest of the week. Hip hop drives the floor, and bottle service in the VIP booths is there for groups who want a fixed base rather than a spot at the bar. The room skews young — 18 is the minimum, and the crowd sits mostly in the 18-to-25 bracket, a mix of Hamburg locals, other western Europeans and travellers passing through the quarter. Smart casual is enforced at the door, and the $$ band keeps a night here within reach.
