About Maiden Shanghai at FIVE

Doors open at 12:30pm from Thursday through Sunday and at 7pm earlier in the week, with every night running to 12:30am — long enough for dinner to slide into a drinks-and-dancing stretch without anyone moving venue. The kitchen works Chinese and Asian fusion at a $$$ level, and the room shifts as the evening goes on, tech house and deep house filling in behind the plates alongside commercial hits. Thursday to Saturday are the busy nights, when the VIP booths and bottle service come into play; private dining is there if you want the group tucked away, and valet handles the arrival on the Palm. Smart casual is enough, though the crowd — young professionals, corporate types and visitors, largely 25 to 45 — dresses with some intent. The October to April season is the one to aim for.
